Stew Henderson Earns Support of County’s Largest Union, Washington Federation of State Employees Council 28

Olympia – Democrat Stew Henderson, a small business owner and former Department of Labor administrator has been endorsed by Washington Federation of State Employees Council 28, the 22nd District’s largest union and a powerful political force.

“I’m proud to be recognized for my strong support of the foundational issues of unions: the right to organize, collective bargaining, worker privacy and strong worker’s compensation and unemployment benefits,” said Henderson. “I oppose furloughs and cuts to benefits for state workers who entered public service not to get rich, but to provide good services for a fair wage and dignified pension,” he continued.

Henderson has operated his own business, Third Way Consulting, for the past 5 years. He continues to provide management consulting for government agencies and non-profit organizations to mediate conflicts and bring people together to solve problems.
When elected, Henderson pledges to continue to be a strong and unwavering voice for the rights of unions and working people. He also plans to help expand the progressive Blue/Green alliance to include a needed voice for business leaders equally committed to our shared values and priorities.

Henderson recently became the official nominee of the 22nd District Democrats. He has earned the endorsement of Washington Conservation Voters, former Congresswoman Jolene Unsoeld, as well as dozens of elected officials, including Thurston County Commissioners Sandra Romero and Karen Valenzuela, the Mayor of Olympia, four Olympia City Councilmembers, four Lacey City Councilmembers, four Tumwater City Councilmembers, and school board members, PUD Commissioners and others.
