Washington Conservation Voters Endorse
Democrat Stew Henderson
Sole endorsement reflects commitment to environmental protection, sustainable economic growth and clean energy jobs

OLYMPIA—Washington Conservation Voters have endorsed Democrat Stew Henderson. Henderson, a community leader, small business owner, and former state employee from unincorporated Thurston County is running to replace retiring Representative Brendan Williams in the 22nd Legislative District.

“Stew has shown a strong commitment to the environment and we have high hopes for him in Olympia,” Brendon Cechovic, Program Director for Washington Conservation Voters said, “We need effective leaders like Stew to address serious challenges like cleaning up Puget Sound and growing our green economy.”

“I'm incredibly grateful to earn the endorsement of this group of committed conservationists,” said Henderson. “This endorsement reflects the grassroots support I’ve worked hard to earn, and the issues I will champion when elected next year—combining my commitment to sustainable economic development with commitment to cleaning up the Sound, addressing climate change and fulfilling the goal of making our schools and public buildings more energy efficient.”

Henderson's support in the environmental community runs deep. In addition to Washington Conservation Voters and “Blue /Green” legislative leaders like Representative Sharon Nelson (D-Vashon Island), Henderson has the endorsements of numerous local leaders in the environmental community, including:

Jay Manning, former Director, WA Dept. of Ecology
Linda Hoffman, former Director, WA Dept. of Ecology
Karen Valenzuela, Thurston County Commissioner
Sandra Romero, Thurston County Commissioner
Edie Gillis, Senior Advisor to Lands Commissioner Peter Goldmark
Beth Doglio, Rhys Ross, and Gregg Small of Climate Solutions

As State Representative, Henderson will focus on creating jobs by improving the climate for small business, advocating for fair revenue solutions that fund schools and critical state programs, and preserving the environment.

Washington Conservation Voters and the local chapter, Thurston Conservation Voters, are the statewide political voice for the environment and work to elect environmentally responsible candidates to state and local offices.
